Out of all the remaining talent we have, Ryan O'Rilley is next on the depth chart... Really?! Frickin' 80% of our forwards are centres already!! Could we not find a natural right or left winger that is better than RR?! I know we are probably working off a set roster, but our depth players were more centres?!!

Taylor Hall deserves a shot. He played well at the World's. His speed would be an asset to Team Canada & he's a dedicated LW on a team of mostly centres. Hard to understand.

I agree 100%. At this point it has to be something other than his play that's keeping him off. The tools at SN were thinking Simmonds should slot in. I think the off time will help Seguin, he didn't look to be 100% anyway.

Because Team Canada is run by an old boys club, they're just so stacked with talent that they can afford to make stupid choices.
Babcock, Julian, Quenville (sp?) are all great coaches but they are all also cut from the same take no chances cloth. They'll take a lesser player in O'Reilly because he will follow the directive to a tee unlike Hall who may go off script to make a play.
It's the same reasoning for leaving Subban and Letang off this team.

I would of taken Hall, Gallagher or Simmonds over O'Reilly...but O'Reilly is still very good obviously.

No Hall? No Simmonds? O'rielly?

Good player but there were much better choices available

You're right. They don't want someone who will go "off script", because in a tournament like this every team you face has the talent to put the puck in the back of your net when someone tries to do it all himself, like Hall and especially Subban do all the time. It's not about having a roster full of guys that have the most natural talent. It's about putting together a TEAM that will limit mistakes while fitting TOGETHER to amplify each other's strengths and execute complete plays.
Canada doesn't have to take chances with their roster selections. That's what countries that don't have our talent pool have to do to try and keep up with us.

I am may be a fan of O'reilly but how can you say Hall or Simmons should of made it over him. He played wing on Colorado, so he can easily make a switch to wing. He is very good at faceoffs which is a bonus. He so so so so much better defensively then them to and it is not even close. Also he average more points per game then both of them. I dont see one benefit to pick either one of them over O'Reilly. They made the right decision on picking him.
